Typically growing between 20 to 60 centimeters, this schooling species thrives over muddy bottoms in shallow to moderate marine depths, feeding primarily on gelatinous zooplankton like comb jellies and small medusae. Culinarily, the silver pomfret is celebrated for its tender white flesh, subtle non-fishy taste, and minimal small bones, making it exceptionally easy to prepare and consume.
